Lewisham-based multi-instrumentalist, producer and DJ cktrl has dropped a new track: ‘love + war (feat. Ophie)'. It’s a beautiful soundscape of modern music, filled with a variety of influences, from contemporary classical and avant-garde jazz, to modern R&B and ambient. His delicate saxophone improvisation interacts with a distant, emotional lead vocal from OPHIE before tender strings finally add to the texture in the track’s dying moments. “The inspiration behind ‘love + war’ basically came from OPHIE having just gone through a difficult breakup,” he explains. “She was at a point where she was trying to come to terms with the relationship being over while still processing her feelings. anger and confusion was just lingering, ‘love + war’ was written from that perspective.” Keep an eye out for more unique music from cktrl. -Dan Peeke.
